  8. Leaders

Some leaders in the game have special advantages or, in some cases, disadvantages.

8.1 Athenian Leaders

Alcibiades

Gifted Oratory: May add two to the die roll on any attempt to cause rebellion.

Instinct For Self-Preservation: If Alcibiades would be killed for any reason, he instead changes allegiance. He is removed from the map, and is available to Sparta on the next turn. If he would be killed while in the service of Sparta, he is removed from the map, and returns to the Athenian side on the next turn. This may happen any number of times.

Lack Of Prestige: May not activate any Spartan hoplite or cavalry SPs.

Cleon

Politician: If more than one leader is present at a battle or skirmish, use the one with the highest skill rating.

Demosthenes

Inventive Tactician: May add two to the die roll when attempting to fight a skirmish instead of a hoplite battle, and when resolving the skirmish.

Nicias

Luck: May re-roll a battle or siege roll once during the game.

Pericles

Popular Support: As long as Pericles is alive, Athens is forced to agree to peace only if her bellicosity is 4 or less (instead of the usual 5 or less).

Poor Health: Pericles is killed if plague strikes Athens.

Phormio

Naval Tactician: May add two to the die roll in any naval battle, and in any naval interception attempt (an interception attempt where the unfriendly army is in friendly naval ZOI).

Thassyllus

Thrasybulus

Naval Tactician: May add two the die roll in any naval battle, and in any naval interception attempt (an interception attempt where the unfriendly army is in friendly naval ZOI).

Youth: Is not available until at least three Athenian leaders have been killed (if Alcibiades is not on the Athenian side, he counts as killed).

8.2 Spartan Leaders

Agis

King of Sparta: May not be chosen to lead another city-state's operation (3.2.1). Must start in Sparta. May not activate naval SPs.

Archidamus

King of Sparta: May not be chosen to lead another city-state's operation (3.2.1). Must start in Sparta. May not activate naval SPs.
