Some paths are marked as passes. Perhaps the associated geographic feature could be marked on the map for added color.
Some paths are marked as mountains (which are even more difficult passes).
The map legend will need additional entries to denote areas, city-states, ports, passes and mountains.
Dominant and Neutral boxes must be added to the map, to hold diplomatic status markers.
Each major city-state has a status card, to keep track of treasury, bellicosity, allies and enemies, and so on.
I envision having markers for each city-state: Athens, Sparta, Thebes, Corinth, Corcyra, etc. This might require too many counters, but it would make it easier to keep track of where units started. The counter mix is as yet undetermined.
There are also garrison markers of various nationalities.
In addition to the usual Athenian and Spartan leaders, the Corinthians and Thebans each have a leader of their own. Scenarios covering other time periods will require other leaders.
Markers will be required to indicate the building or destruction of fortresses, and to mark year-round station.
