I am beginning a new errata sheet, composed of Mark Herman's answers to my barrage of questions. I'm trying to keep the number of messages I send him to a civilized amount, so questions will appear slowly over time as I get his answers.
Q. If an Army is intercepted in a space that already contains
a friendly Force or Army, is the preexisting Force or Army counted
for purposes of:
Designer's Comments: If a battle occurs, then all Forces in the space are counted as one Force. If there are two leaders, it's as per the rules. Since the Forces are combined in the battle, the total Force takes the losses and suffers whatever consequences from the battle.
The way to think about this as a model. You have a Force in an area; remember these areas are fairly large compared to the Forces moving in them. The moving Army could be 10 kilometers away from the Force that is in the area and, if ambushed, it fights. If this affair is going to turn into a battle because the Army is blocked, then there is time to bring the other Force up to fight as one Force.
Note: This is different than how we have played at AvalonCon. The Force is counted in battle, but does not determine whether the battle actually takes place. The intercepting Force might have 50% or more of the strength points when compared to the moving Army, in which case a battle would occur if the total was 8 or more, yet the interceptors could suddenly find themselves outnumbered when the preexisting Force joined in. Very interesting.
Q. If a leader moving alone is intercepted in a space
containing a preexisting Force or Army, is the leader sent home
immediately?
A. Yes.
