Brief bio

Gladys was a lifelong elementary school teacher. She taught for 42 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District, at Micheltorena Elementary School for the bulk of that time. When she retired, she was awarded the "Golden Apple" in a big ceremony at the Wilshire Methodist Church.

She was national women's archery champion in 1936 and 1937. She and Monte enjoyed archery for many years, competing in both target and flight shooting. Monte made all of their tackle and fletched their arrows.

In later years they competed in ballroom dancing and built a ballroom into their Silver Lake home on Kenilworth.

They had no children.
